Our special sport is cricket.

This is an aerial photograph of the Riverside Cricket Ground at Chester-le-Street.

In the background you can see Lumley Castle. This is a hotel now and many famous sports stars stay there.

Playing for Success  This year we took part in the "Playing  for Success" programme based at the Riverside Cricket Ground. Fifteen girls and boys in Year 5 (aged 10) spent an afternoon each week during the Summer Term. They were selected for the programme using our target setting data. None of the children had represented the school in sports teams or participated in local sports events.

Each week we completed a session in the new education centre. We used digital video cameras to make short films Everyone enjoyed using the new, powerful computers. We held a video-conference during one session at the Riverside.
Parents and friends were invited to the Presentation Evening in the Media Centre One of the Durham County cricketers presented awards to the successful children. Thomas is presented with his certificate and a new cricket bat. Our Chief Inspector,  Mr David Ford, presented the special certificates.
